How XeeXR works in practice

XeeXR is designed so that the headset user remains fully focused on the task. Functionality within the standalone VR headset is intentionally kept limited. The remote guide manages interaction and support from the dashboard.

The Standalone VR Headset User

The headset user starts a session via a one-time installed XeeXR app. From the standalone VR headset, live video and audio are streamed to the receiving party.

A standalone VR headset provides a wide field of view, passthrough, and sufficient processing power for remote visual support. The user retains visibility of the physical environment while real-time guidance is provided.

The headset user works fully hands-free and is not burdened with complex functionality. The focus remains on the task, not on the interface.

The Browser Based Dashboard

The remote guide opens the session via the XeeXR dashboard in the browser on a desktop, laptop, smartphone, tablet, or a standalone VR headset. No software installation is required on the receiving side.

From the dashboard, the guide can view live, communicate via voice, and manage support functions. Visual instructions and contextual information can be sent to the headset user without interrupting the work.

The dashboard is configured per sector and use case in collaboration with the customer. Functionalities, workflows, and integrations are aligned with operational processes, training, and support scenarios.

Remote Assistance

Remote Assistance is used when someone is performing physical work in the real world and requires direct visual support.

A headset user is on site and performs a task. The remote guide views the session live from the dashboard and sends visual instructions into the user’s field of view, such as 3D models, arrows, markers, and shared screen information. This allows you to show exactly what needs to be done without being physically present.

Remote Assistance is intended for operational scenarios where expertise is scarce, downtime is costly, and direct guidance is required during maintenance, inspection, and technical activities.

Remote Guidance

Remote Guidance is used to remotely guide VR training sessions, simulations, and applications within existing VR environments.

Normally, you would be physically present next to someone to view along via local casting and provide explanations. With Remote Guidance, you can view a VR application or training live when you are not at the same location and provide guidance via voice.

Remote Guidance follows the same principle as remote desktop tooling, but is specifically designed for Pico 4 Enterprise VR headsets. You see what the user sees and guide them in real time without physical presence. This allows you to support training and deliver remote assistance independently of location or network.
